Good practice title

Organization of regular training seminars for the administration and trainers at the center for vocational training

Baseline / problem

The good practice for training of the staff members of our center for vocational training (CVT) is established and traditional for our organization. These training seminars are decades-long tradition. Our organization has significant experience in implementation of variety of training initiatives – language training, seminars devoted to the latest scientific and engineering developments, international seminars and conferences on different topics.  Our organization manages a licensed center for vocational training since 2003. Our experience for staff training has been successfully transferred to the CVT as well, with considerable interest from the CVT’s administrative staff and the trainers.  This model of staff training and qualification proves to be efficient and easy to implement and could lead to good results if applied by other VET providers.

Good practice: (Measures, instruments, criteria, indicators)

The best practice provided is regular activity for our team – it is carried out at least twice a year. The timing of the training seminar and the theme are announced early enough to allow participants to plan their time. The result is enhancement of the professionalism of the organization’s staff members, better opportunities for clarification of ambiguities and problems encountered in the working process. The training process is organized and controlled by the management of the CVT. All personnel are involved in organizing and implementing the training seminars.
We always invite external participants/ stakeholders - representatives of governmental institutions related to the topic of the seminar, representatives of employers and business organizations, universities and other interested parties. We don’t have any specifically formulated criteria and indicators for measurement and evaluation of the good practice, but the views and opinions of all participants in the seminars are that these trainings and discussions are of great help to ensure the quality of vocational training. Moreover, after the trainings we always register improvement in the performance of the organization. This practice improves the prestige of our center for vocational training and entails increased interest from individuals and organizations seeking where to enroll in training.

Problems and constraints encountered and solutions found:

In the course of the training seminars there is some risk for deviation of discussion towards solving some minor problems and this usually distort the overall debate. The moderator of the seminar has a leading role in solving such problems by clearly and explicitly suspending every attempt for directing the topic in a wrong direction.
No problems have been encountered after the implementation of the good practice.  The most important thing is to focus on the training of the staff for implementation of quality assurance mechanisms and for strict compliance with the legal requirements.
